COMPETITION FOR SECONDARY AND POST-SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

As part of its Active and Responsible Citizenship Campaign, Repubblika invites all secondary and post-secondary students in Malta and Gozo to participate in a national competition aimed at fostering a culture of respect and community engagement among young citizens.

AIM

The goal of the competition is to promote awareness among young people about how their actions and attitudes can significantly contribute to the well-being and vitality of democracy.

Students are encouraged to express their creativity and insights through one of the following formats:

  • Essay
  • Poster

THEME

What does discrimination mean to me?

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

Essays

  • Category 1: Levels 7, 8, and 9 (250 to 300 words)
  • Category 2: Levels 10 and 11 and post-secondary (400 to 600 words)

Essays can be submitted in either Maltese or English.

Posters

  • Open to Levels 7, 8, 9, and Special Education Schools
  • Posters should be A3 size

DEADLINE

Monday, 18th May , 2026, at noon

SUBMISSIONS

Participants may send their essays and/or posters by snail post to:
29, Church Square, Mqabba, MQB 1011.
Participants must send with their work the following details:

  • Name
  • Surname
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Name of school
  • Competition category

The Data Protection Form can be downloaded from here and must be filled in, signed, and submitted with the student’s work to complete the application process.

Repubblika reserves the right to share students’ submissions on social media.

PRIZES

A book shall be awarded to the first 20 participants who submit their work (excluding the finalists).

Finalists

1st place: a set of books of a value of €100
2nd place: a set of books of a value of €50

CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION

All participants shall receive a certificate of participation.
