Repubblika condemns the Prime Minister’s behaviour towards Maltese people of goodwill, when he accepted that Rosianne Cutajar returns to the Labour Parliamentary Group after she was dismissed when her dishonest and greedy behaviour towards the Maltese and Gozitans was revealed. What we reiterated in 2023 still holds true: impunity for corruption and overindulgence have no place in public life.
Robert Abela allowed Rosianne Cutajar back without at least demanding that she makes a public apology to all Maltese and Gozitans for betraying the trust they gave her through their vote. This clearly shows that impunity, rather than integrity, is rewarded by this government. This is another obscene example of the difference between those close to power who can do whatever they want, and the rest of the people who have to pay for their excesses.
According to Rosianne Cutajar, “everyone pigs out”. We correct what she said: those in power with no conscience, pig out. Those who are truly interested in the Maltese and Gozitans, carry out their duties.
