Even among pigs there are different laws!

Evarist Bartolo once said, certainly while thinking of George Orwell’s book: Animal Farm, that there is a law for the gods and another for the animals. But even among pigs not everyone is treated in the same way.

We all agree with the words of Rosianne Cutajar, when she was referring to the government’s cronies: “Everyone is a pigging out”. She was right; she pigged out, like so many others pigged out – the exemplary politicians in pigging out. Week after week we discover new cases, like the last one by Minister Clayton Bartolo and his wife, with the knowledge of Minister Clint Camilleri.

But even among themselves, pigs are not treated in the same way. The two women who pigged out, Justyne Caruana and Rosianne Cutajar, had to resign (although later, they were quickly given another job). But the men were forgiven; it was enough that the one who pigged out the most offered half an apology, and according to our Prime Minister, things stopped there. But we are waiting for them to resign as well. And not only that. The money that was given to Amanda Muscat for not doing anything must be returned in its entirety to the coffers of Malta.

The only excuse that Robert Abela gave is that we of Repubblica form part of the Nationalist Party. Poor thing, he still hasn’t understood that civil society is not affiliated with any parties. Apparently, he still hasn’t understood that he is surrounded by pigs who are fed up of eating off the backs of the Maltese people and are trying to convince those around them that there is nothing wrong in pigging out at the people’s expense.
